z900 A4 uk frame/v5

The DVLA are messing me about so i'm looking for a UK registered 900 a4 /a5 frame and v5. if anyone has one for sale please pm me. thanks.

There is a new system in place at DVLA. All local offices DVLA are closing in November and ( since July 22nd 2013 ) we now need to register bikes thru Swansea and (if its an import) the NOVA system must be used.

I am going to get onto HMRC next week to ask what happens when a "barn find" is restored. Why do I need to pay VAT if there's no proof it's an import...blah blah, blah...

Easier just to get a new frame me thinks !!

It all just seems to be another form of "Stealth Tax" from the people WE ELECT to run OUR COUNTRY....and rip us off while they fly about in helicopters...rant rant rant......

Dear Sir,

Kawasaki Motorcycle VIN Number Z1F-51311X. NOVA scheme.

I am trying to register this bike. I do not believe it is liable for VAT under the NOVA scheme as it is a bike bought in the UK as a “barn findâ€￾ for spares/repairs/restoration. It was built in 1977 and was left in a shed in Yorkshire for many years until I pulled it out and restored it earlier this year. (copy of receipt attached) I have spent the last 3 months restoring it and have obtained a dating certificate from the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Owners Club (copy attached.) I am now asking Kawasaki for the same dating information confirming the year of manufacture as 1977.

I understand that you are able to check any information you might hold on your CHIEF database to confirm whether or not this bike has been imported. If so could you please do so and let me know the situation ?

I purchased this bike in a private sale, in good faith, believing it to be a UK bike with lost paperwork, due to it’s age, condition and length of time off the road. There are many bikes like this lying around in sheds in the UK. It would seem unfair for HMRC to charge additional VAT on bikes that have been left for many years and then restored by enthusiasts.

Your advice and assistance would be appreciated.

How are they are asking for a NOVA(notification of vehicle arrival) number when it was not imported from the EU.The NOVA system is designed to pick up on vehicles imported by our Eastern European friends and close the tax loophole they were enjoying i.e cars being cheaper to purchase over there.
A NOVA number is not required for a vehicle imported from outside of the EU.

the letter is in the post... I expected this when i bought the bike and it's worth trying to sort out as there must be hundreds of people in a similar situation....

If all else fails maybe I ask for a "Q" plate ...if they still exist...and then buy a personalised "R" reg plate later ???

The saga continues...

I have to say, you can't re-register a Q plate with a personalised number plate.
Wait until a frame with a V5 is for sale is the safest bet.

I think that's the best bet for now...Got loads more to be getting on with so it goes to the back of the queue. I got it MOT'd/insured thinking I could go to the local DVLA office and sort it out, but I was 2 weeks too late.

I am told DVLA were trying to get Quick Fit to take over the registration process to save ££ but Quick Fit said no ....

Pain in the bum but i'll sort it.....

Jays right tim.If it go's onto a 'Q' plate = it stays on that 'Q' plate.

I seem to remember warning of this some time ago - I have little doubt that you will be seeing a HUGE increase In "Q" Plates
