Kawasaki Rear Brake Switch body for repair project

#1 PostAuthor: pertonpc » Sun Sep 25, 2011 1:20 pm

Hi Guys,
I have posted this in bike help as well. Trying to repair my Z1 rear stop light switch. All looks ok apart from body has split. Think the body itself is pretty standard kawa part.
Anyone got a decent used switch/ body I could canibalise to fix this one - don't want to glue it.

Would prefer a kawa one as innards will match up (hopefully)

Would like to save it if I can cos it was an original fit to the bike - and I've managed to dismantle it without causing any more damage!!

Donor switch can obviously be broken/ missing bits as long as body is intact.

Thanks for looking from Mark

Thanks Guy you are a gent.

If you find a likely candidate let me know and I will give you the measurement of broken one to make sure.

Are you coming to Stafford Show? (I live nearby) and we could compare 650s

Thanks again from Mark

Hope you are not thinking of going on a Z?

Well known for bits being nicked off bikes.

Blue smoke Baz had the seat nicked off his Kettle a couple of years back, had to buy a tatty one from the jumble and Gaffa tape on to get home!!!

Agreed, I know someone who lost his side panels on the bike park 3 years ago. Its a shame because the queues get worse every year on the surrounding roads.
Mark, I wouldnt leave your 650 parked there all day if it were mine !!!

Fair point guys
Thanks for the warning. Had heard of a seat going missing - but didn't know it was my mate Baz's

Only one problem then... if no bike there - can I still justify flouncing round in my Green Hornet outfit all day hoping to be mistaken for someone who has ridden kawasakis flat out??

(have green kawa pen ready for autographs)

or will I get the pee ripped out of me by the stall holders.

Not too sure as it's my first time at a classic show - normally do NEC new bike show but the zeds displayed there ain't a patch on the ones this club has.

NEC Bike show is poor compared to Stafford, should know i work there and have a decco every year, stand by for some serious piss taking, its par for the course,i would wear the Green Hornet outfit, with the matching highway patrol jackboots :| :|

Oh all right then...
you've talked me into it.

Guyzed -

Offer still stands if you want to pop round mine at some point to / from or during the show weekend. Tea + biccies included.

The brake switch looks a good match. The broken body on mine measures 45mm overall with 25mm threaded. If yours is near that I will give it a go.

Will be at Stafford show Saturday 15th cos I got the morning off work and I have heard you are all hung over on the Sunday so won't get much sense out of anyone .
Plus I'm guessing stall holders will be packing down by 4ish.

Cheers from Mark
