Z650 WITH REG No GGR 347S WANTED.

The Z1 Owners Club Great Britain was formed in 1989, by Sam Holt following the demise of the Kustom Kawasaki Owner's Club. The club now has a membership of around 600 worldwide, all with a common interest in the legendary Z1 and it's descendants.
The club originally covered all models of the Z1, Z900 and Z1000 up to and including the Z1-R, but in recent years this has been extended to anyone with an interest in Big Zeds - first generation big bore air-cooled Kawasaki fours which were originally twin shock. Members try and supply mutual support and advice with all models of the Z1, Z900, Z1-R, Mark 2s, Z1000R and Z1100Rs, 1000STs and so on. Also included are the Z2 which isn't over 900 but is clearly a sleeved down Zed, so is eligible, and the GPZ1100 B1 and B2, a bit of a cross-over for Kawasaki but undoubtedly more like Zeds than anything else so they fall within our remit. Once they went monoshock it really was the start of something new.
Eligibility can be with either engine or chassis, so that takes in those with Kawasaki Zed engined Rickmans, Harris, Egli, Moto Martin or even Z650 framed bikes, and also Gixer engined Zeds and the like.
Whether you're interested in concours bikes and restoration, streetfighters and specials, drag racers or classic racers, if it's Zed based you'll find a friendly ear here.

Having recently joined the forum and considering joining the club as a member, is the above statement accurate ?
Or, as Paul Doran & Davey Doherty say, for Genuine Z1 Owners only.
I have a love of 70's/80's bikes and enjoy working on them and restoring them and own a Z650 B1 along with several other Japanese classic's. At some point I will obtain a Z1.
So, am I welcome to join now? or Should I wait until I get a Z1?
I have no problem either way, but if owning a Z650 makes me a second class member in some peoples eyes, then I would rather save myself £20 and fcuk off somewhere else.
Paul.
p.s. Waldorf & Statler are American (Muppet's) not English (Muppet's), so If they had a Zed at all, it would probably be a hardtail with 2m fork's.
p.p.s. I was writing this prior to Chris's post.

As far as I see it it says that derivatives of the fabled superbike are able to be counted as qualifying for inclusion into the fold.
To me that includes any large bore Zed from the 70`s. As far as the 650 goes it led to larger bikes using the same engine design and was basically the first fresh thiking from Kawasaki since the Z1. All large Zeds were derived from the Z1 until the advent of water cooling. The 650 proved to the designers that the future lay in less heavy engine design being refined with greater understanding of metallurgy to improve combustion and engine speed, resulting in more power at greater revs than was possible before.
Stu, don`t worry about some opinions of your bike. Most here are interested in what you are doing and admire that you are doing it, warts and all, for us to see.
Last nights discussions had me in stitches at points, and there is no vitriol I am certain. I would willingly buy any member here a pint in the pub and I am sure at some point there may be a little piss taking.
But have you noticed that not one person will comment that they don`t like a bike that another member proudly displays here ?
Good reason. Piss take is piss take but when it comes to it..............we all like old bikes.

I've paid my membership and tried to contribute where I can, and I've had some incredibly helpful people get stuck in. I've enjoyed seeing other peoples projects and just talking about old Kawasakis, joined club nights and was even planning to ride in to the Ace on the 19th with the rest of the bikes from the forum, all on the understanding that I was (a small) part of the club. Now we've got Paul Doran spitting nuts and bolts about people mentioning other bikes, making it very clear that the z650 is in the same category, and I discover that he's got every right to make me feel so uncomfortable. Paul - what the hell do I do now? Quietly shuffle off?
no get a sense of humour like the rest of us

Most of us are just happy to take part and get along.
As they say empty vessels make the most noise and he is one empty guy
