the point ive made is that you simply cannot tell what colour the bike was off production line from an engine number, its a fact. all this talk of "someone on the inside " is just another way of saying it cant be done, not for you or I or any of the other thousands of zed enthusiasts. the information simply isnt available, cant be found, not there, unobtainable.
your question was " can we find out what colour a bike was off the production line from the engine number" :?:
NO is the answer. thanks, over and out.

Yeah no worries, that's why I then asked if you could find the original paintset colour from my frame number (on page 2 of this thread) - "Mick, My frame number is 099*** - check Pierre's database http://www.kawa-z1.com/technics.shtml#database and the
nearest frame number to mine has it logged as original paintset that was with that was / is brown."

The End.

morning Jay, sorry, i feel better after a nights sleep, working hard just now finishing a job. please accept my apologies for myrudeness mate, you throw up lots of interesting stuff on this forum and i think thats good. its always been my understanding that all information on bikes comes from the frame number. i wouldnt know how the colour schemes worked off the line, i would just guess that they did batches of brown and green as they felt were needed from sales. personally ilike to see a brown one because they are rarer. but most of all i like to see one painted in a new colour version of the old stripe set up, but thats only any good if you are keeping the bike because it can devalue £££ wise.

As said, no worries, I saw a brown one at Ace Cafe Kawasaki Day in April,
and I agree, it's always nice to see any Zed in different colours, but there
is something so classic about them factory standard isn't there.
The pic below is the brown one I saw at the Ace Cafe.
I wonder how colourmatching the original factory brown is achieved!?

a thing of beauty, would look even better without all that unnecessary chrome on it, scrap those exhausts and fit a nice exhaust craft stainless system on there and it would be spot on

Someone on here ,( i think over in Lincolnshire ) has a beauty of an A4 in red .
The paintjob and the bike look stunning , and the red is for me the 3rd colour of A4 that Kawasaki should have done .
