Hi guys well still no go found the the cams were not 180 degrees out as i first thought just needed the crank turning a second time to line them up silly me anyway on close inspection inlet cam was one tooth out so i sorted that put it back together and still the same thing spitting back through the carbs did put second set of coils on made no difference took off the exhaust system tries to run on 1 and 4 2/3 are sparking not banging changed carbs still the same got vac carbs sucking ok getting flames out of 2/3 exhaust ports and spitting back got to thinking now to try an igniter as i am still sure that the timing is to far advanced tried manually retarding the ign by elongating the three screw holes in the pick up back plate but still the same over to you Ash any ideas might replace the pickups too. looks now to be firing just past the F mark not quite at TDC when the exhaust system was on 1 and 4 front pipes were heating up 2 slightly and 3 not, spark is good plugs new compression good did change the adv/ret mech for a new one only thing left is the pickups and ignitor any one got one i can borrow to try or one to sell ? cheers ronnie

Hi guys just a bit of an update the bike is now running it was the ignitor that had gone faulty even though it sparked ok sparks to cyls 2/3 must have been premature thats what made it seem to be firing advanced i fitted a s/h unit from the states today and it fired up right away, got another problem though its not charging getting about 45volts from each of the yellow wires so i am asuming the regulator has expired need SH232-12 if anyone has one spare, anyone know if SH532-12 is ok to use what is the difference? both listed for the z1000
