Z1000 A1/A2 Fuel Tank

#1 PostAuthor: RALPHARAMA » Thu Jan 26, 2017 1:19 pm

I am building a special for a club member and the petrol tank has had the metal bits removed that the badges screw into :splat Why o fucking why?!!!!

It'll be something of a ball-ache for me to make and weld on new ones, so if there's a solid but scruffy tank kicking about that would save me the work/club member the cost of resurrecting this tank it would be a good thing!

Obviously if anyone's building something not using the original badges it will be looking for a new home providing an alternative can be found.

Alternatively, if anyone has a totally buggered tank that has the badge screw brackets in good order that would be helpful.

It's got to be custom painted, so other than the sort of rust that leaves it in danger of leaking or dents that are seriously sever, I don't care about the state :D

Is there a cheaper tank you could take the screw plates from?

Kawasaki used the tank badges across the range I believe, so a GPZ305 or GPZ550 tank or similar may have those parts.

Would need a trip to a friendly shop with a vernier I guess.
Cheers,

Mark.

unless the recess has been welded or brazed over its a straightforward job just a strip of mild steel with a 3mm thread in each end
