GPz1100 B1 Ignition Switch and Relay
Does anyone out there have either a useable 7-wire ign switch (with vertical steering lock...) and keys - my switch does not connect the starter feed (Y/R) but everything else works if you wiggle hte key a bit...; I am also looking for a working FI Relay. I am trying to sort out a home-brew relay situation and would like to get back to a base level before testing the whole FI system.

Hi, I have rebuillt a few of the B1/J ignition switches. If the key will rotate to all it's correct positions then the problem is in the contact plate on the bottom. All the switch does is to rotate a flat blade that rotates the contact plate. Undo the small screws that retain the black plastic cover and you can see the contact plate roate and check continuity bwteen each contact and it's wire to the connector with a meter. If the wires are good then clean the contacts with emery paper back to nice copper and you should be good to go. I have resoldered/replaced crap wires and it is easy to do. I would remove each connector from the main housing and clean off with emery. No rocket science here and these "rocking horse poo" switches can be kept going.
Have fun
