Can I ask what you intend doing with it?
Why not a common garden variety 76 Z900 head or even Z1000 head if you're doing something different?
Early 72 heads are hard enough to come by as it is without people making projects out of them.

He can choose to answer for himself...or not.
I just don't want to help someone out with a rare part like a 72 head if his intention is to f**k it up.
If that's his intention then good luck with the search but I wouldn't choose to help in that case, fair enough?
Other's can choose to do as they like.
well gbh,why i want an early z1 head ,is to make a sectioned z1 engine,as a project,if you care to read my post again,i asked for one that was fooookt,as to not knacker any rare good ones up,and the reason i asked for an early one,is so i dont get concours type persons slagging it off IF they ever saw it.saying it was not an early one.im making one anyway but out of bits that i can get that are scrap.seeing as rb has one that he wants doing up,with all the carnage of that thread i thought i would make one that was mine.hope this answers your thoughts.
right now im cutting a perfectly good set of barrels up,so i have started it,anyone with bits they dont want could get in touch with me and i will buy them.i have a complete engine to cut up.but using bad bits would be prefered.any help would be very well received.p.s.were are all the sectioned engines then.

Nice one Hillbilly,a man on a mission
I think I have a Z1b type head,little bit blown up
You can have it if you want.
A mate of mine use to work for Kawasaki U.K. Rob Minskip
Mid/late 80`s he told me he had a sectioned engine under his work bench,
"Keep tripping on it" I tried to get it but those that be decided to give it a
work over and put it in the Reception area of Kawasaki H.Q.
2nd best place for it I suppose

cheers for the vote of confidence lads,
i thought i were gona be run out the club for butchery.and when i build it,i will let the club use it on there stands if they want.
keefleaf i do need a head for it ,as the one i have is off a z1000 import with the breather holes on top, make sure its fooookt for normal use though,as i dont want anyone saying im scrounging bits, all bits have to be ,broke, snapped, holed, bent,or just plain unusable.rusty gearboxes,im hoping to put a lecy motor on it so it goes round.already seen a lecy mate about led lights for the points and plugs.

Okay, point by point.
#1 A rare 72 head is considered to be foookt long after a garden variety 73/74/75 or 76 head that are plentiful. A 72 head is worth reclaiming long after anyone would bother doing so to a later head. Do you have any idea how hard these are to come by in comparison to later heads?
#2: You're worried about "concourse type person slagging it off"?
If it such a worry why do you have MUCH later crancases and even cylinders in your pics? The ONLY part that is 72 will be the head that has been squandered on a sectioned engine.
Don't get me wrong, I think what you're doing is fine...just that it would be more correct with a later head.
hillbilly wrote:and another thing gbh,if rare parts are getting rarer, why dont you have a go at all the people that are breaking them bikes up.
I never had a problem with people breaking bikes, in fact this often leads to more bikes being put back on the road.
Reminds me of the time I sold a Vincent tank that I had restored. I made a profit and was thought to be a horrible person. The irony is that the person doing the most complaining had no less than 8 tanks hanging up in his garage. I pointed out to him that whilst I made a profit at least I helped get one more bike on the road whereas he was effectively keeping 8 bikes off the road due to hoarding.
Good to see a Fosters drinker and your finger nails need cleaning.
About 3 years ago, a chap in NSW sold one (geniune Kawa cut away engine cannot remember model) for about $950.00AUD from memory, I bid but had to draw the line at 900.00
