Had the 1100 out round the lakes and down to Devils Bridge a few weeks ago with the Mrs on board

But then you know that feeling when you splashed through the odd puddle and there might be dirt somewhere ....

I think my post ride cleans are getting out of hand

All the best, Paul

Out of interest what kind of stand/jack is that you've got it sat on....looks like a handy setup ?

Bike looks super , I usually clean mine when I get home but yet to take wheel and swingarm off to do so ! Are you going to paint the wheels gold ?
Also as one of the few who is lucky enough to own both the 1000 and 1100 , could you tell us which one is nicer to ride and what do you notice is better or worse between the 2 models ? Would have liked one of those under tail fairing boxes myself but the Gpz had its fuel injection electrics there so not many about good luck with the search !

What started just as a general clean has turned into a small make over.

Swingarm and several other parts have gone away for powder coating this morning.

Rear shocks are being striped and cleaned, springs powder coated.

New rear disc.

Wheels will be returned to gold.

The bike had the rear light tucked under the tail piece on a modified bracket and running an after market fibreglass mudguard. I now have a proper rear light/ indicator bracket to fit, I am also refitting the original full length rear mudguard.

I've picked up a very nice chain guard as again the one on the bike had been modified slightly.

The bike is a nice original bike purchased from a very nice Z1OC member, I am just trying to put my own mark on it, plan is to never have it fully stripped down, tidy the rear end first, when that's back together I'll clean the carbs/engine, then work forward to the front end and wheel.

As far as which rides better it's a long time since I rode the 1000, I think the 1000 is a lot firmer due to its new suspension and it feels a bit more revvy if that makes sense. However the 1100 feels more confident in the bends and the front feels better ......or maybe I just throw it about a bit more because I haven't spent the last 18 months building and polishing it :D

That said I'm not the worlds fastest rider, usually just me and the wife pottering along, which reminds me the Mrs thinks the 1000 is the best.

The scissor lift was bought from Amazon for about £80

Cheers, Paul
