Anglesey trackday weekend with CBT

#1 PostAuthor: Al » Mon Jun 01, 2015 4:49 pm

Astonishing weekend for me with so much going on including biblical rain and typhoon winds.
So many beefburgers, i looked like one and a fantastic track with grip even in near zero temperatures!
Scenery to match anything anywhere i suspect.
Thank you to all that fed me and looked after me whilst i was feeling a bit peaky.
Great to see all the usual suspects as well as Tony (agony aunt) the fella from Hull, the owner of the A1 and Mr Sanderz and partner.
Big thank you to Rob B and Darin (Z1 OC members) whose only interest is to provide classic bike riders with memorable experiences.

Someone binned they're XR69 whilst 'exploring' the limits of grip at the end of the start finish straight.
It was exactly the same place; Brian 1100 went 'exploring' but he only managed to cut a massive slot in the tarmac with the side stand bracket on the frame.
Brian you are a nutter have a moment to think about what you did.
I cant believe you kept it upright!!!!!!

Good to catch up with you again Al and be introduced to several other forum members :up

Great pictures and write up, the biblical rain and typhoon winds during Saturday evening was not an exaggeration!!
Will post some photos later - some quality machinery in attendance that's for sure, a brilliant weekend in my view.

What a weekend much better than I thought it would be on the Wednesday before when I didn't have a bike that was rideable.

Grumpy's1260 came to the rescue with a Nice ZX7R , so picked it up Wednsday, checked it over Thursday and took it to the track for the weekend. Bit of a chance but it all went well and me and the bike survived in good form.

Al , Robw, Brian, RobH all running round really fast. I nearly crashed watching Brian come past and round the next few bends, he even looked smooth.
Lots of other nice zeds from the club as well including, Martin's Gpz and Moriwaki rep, and Dave (Plutos) Gpz and it was good to meet sanders, its a shame we didn't have a z10c banner for the garage.

Al must have had cocaine in all those burgers as he rode better than ever and did a fair impression of Mr Marquez passing me on the outside then using the kerbs on the same lap.

The most improved rider of our group without a doubt!

As Al says I also got to ride a legendary bike, which is a definite MAN'S bike to ride fast, proper fast Yoshi lump in that.

Good weekend , actually a great weekend!!

Wish I was doing Cadwell but unfortunately cannot make it.

For anyone who wants to join in the fun I have a nice proven cheap ZX7R that is now surplus to requirements

Thanks to everyone that pushed, kicked and rollered the Croz replica. Such a shame it chose to sulk and not run for more than a few seconds. I promise that it will run at Cadwell and no one will have to kill themselves assisting.

Positive was the Croz's sulk gave me a chance to fall back in love with the Unitrak. I couldn't believe such a barge would perform so well and even eat a back tyre in a day!

Roll on Cadwell!

Good to meet everyone. Shame it wasn't the weather for sitting around the BBQ in the evening but at least the track was dry. I'm sure I'll forget everyone's name next time we meet but if I call everyone Rob I've reckon got a 50% chance of getting it right.

A couple of photos from the day.

I pottered round at a speed I was comfortable with and really enjoyed myself, even managed to overtake a few others in the novice class before being lapped by the quicker riders. Everyone was well behaved on track and a good social in the pits after. Would recommend to anyone that has never done a track day. See you again at Cadwell in July.

This is a spectators view of the weekend, this is only a handful of what was either in the garages or on the car park. Respect to all those who put their all into these track day events.
Id give it a go meself but my honest thoughts are "your kidding me ...fuk that" ..... be better than any laxative that's for sure.

Anyhow, in no particular order other than when I took them -

If anyone's thinking about just going to spectate - do it, you wont be disappointed. Or if you've got big balls get yerself out on the track and see what its all about.
