Spotted on show Saturday 23rd May, this very nice Z1R. One of the best I've ever seen. Is this heavily modded! Its appears very long and very low, and possibly, the front end is raked out slightly. Maybe I've not noticed before now. And if this is the same Z1R spotted at a Frimley show last July, I can vouch that it was very loud when he rode in. Nice.
The awards were being handed out as I left at 3pm, so not sure who won what today. Certainly a lot of interesting and unusual bikes in the show, including a A65 BSA motor, in an ultra slick Jap Streetfighter style, and a 400 Super Dream engine in a 1935 Ariel Red Hunter!
The big highlight today was the early 50's German and European machines on display, which proved just how advanced these manufacturers were compared to the rest of the world. Take a close look and you'll spot shaft drives, leading links and a single side front/rear end among other early innovations. All the non Zed stuff is further down and well worth a look. Enjoy....

The Non Zed stuff. Some very advanced bikes indeed for the 50's era plus some later designs.

Afore I go, I checked the Z1R pictured here and it is, the very loud show bike I saw at Frimley last July. Plus, for added interest, a Z440 Twin, created by BRT Racing, and currently campaigned in CRMC events around the UK, plus, from last Decembers show, a Drag racer that I know nothing about, but it does have sponsorship from, among others, MTC.

That Ariel with the superdream engine looks to have been done well.

Indeed. December's off road show is even better with plenty of competition specials and ex racers on show..
The Z1R looks heavily modded to me with it's long, low drag style, smaller spoked wheels, braced swingarm, single disc ect. It looks so much more of a manageable package compared to the ST.
The Ariel 'mod' is very unusual, just like the A65 in a Streetfighter style. The purist's would be tut tutting for sure, but I think these one-off specials look really good.

Indeed Mick. Didn't get my best side either!
Very glad to be part of the digital age though, otherwise, the book shelf would be bulging under the weight of all those Truprints and Snappy Snaps prints and negatives... Remember them!

Pretty certain the Z1R was for sale a few years ago in CMM for just over £3k. Seen it about quite a bit since and worth a bit more now with time. Nice bike.

And don't we know it today! Bods everywhere clutching long sticks for said selfie, especially Japanese students. "Ooooohhh, look at me"...when really, we just want to drool over the subject/content. Must be an age thing... :gom :gom :wave :wave

Best I've seen compared to many out there. I'm intrigued on the spec. All looks very special, particularly the exhaust, with full access to the sump.
