That one was £20k. Nice placing of the paperwork to cover the seat cover crudely stitched back together. Those pics make it look a lot better than it is. There was also the german delivery miles only one with 71km on the clock which was for sale at 35k Euro.

Thats £27,328! for a delivery miles z1 when some are fetching £20k with a lot of wrong parts.

They are fetching £15-£20k, especially the mint ones but they don't seem to need to be 100% original.

It is the maddest I've ever seen it.
Prices are getting really silly now.

The new R1 is £15k and the M model £18.5k and they will depreciate faster than a rabbit down a hole!!
I know what I would rather put my money in! A lovely 72 Z1!

Do you think it has anything to do with pension reforms? Or perhaps rumors of fantasy prices being paid for Z1s is self fueling the price rise - like happens with the housing market for example.

I don't know Glyn but I think there are two main factors. Firstly a lot of people with vested interest have been deliberately fueling the fire and fanning the flames for a good few years in order to maximise their profits and secondly there are a lot of 50-somethings with some spare cash, rose coloured specs and a healthy dose of nostalgia. I suspect a lot of us fall into the second category.
The thing is, the first lot will continue doing what they do for as long as they can extract a healthy return, but the second part of the equation has a limited life cycle, literally, and once we have all shuffled along a lot of the nostalgic romanticism will also die out and only then will the market for these lovely big zeds settle into it's true level. I reckon another 10 to 15 years and only prime examples will retain their value. The question is at that point, who will decide what is or is not a prime example? As we all know, there are very few real expert but an army of armchair enthusiasts who profess to have some expertise but in reality don't know their arse from their elbow and I reckon this group will carry on talking up prices for a little while.

Well I think the prices / values will drop rapidly very soon.
I don't think any other factors will influence this.
THEN when interest rates do go up all these "investments / toys" will be offloaded rapidly.
Remember in the late 80's.
You picked up a car mag or a local sellers paper, there were 30 XR3i's in every paper all cutting each others legs off.
Oh and coincidently I had a couple of RS1600i's as I didn't like the XR3i.

I went on Sunday and was amazed to see two Z1's at a car show, didn't appreciate that they were for sale and the asking prices beggar belief. The cheaper one even had dents / scuffs in the exhausts and I thought looked uncared for and tatty. Wonder if they sold either of them..

Couldnt aggree more.
I come across a lot of fellas in their 40, s and 50, s putting money into a "Toy". It may be a car or a bike but it remains to be seen if these investments realise in the long term.
