Z1B Out for a run

#1 PostAuthor: wheelysteve » Sun Oct 12, 2014 1:49 pm

Finally stopped tinkering and took the Z1B out for a decent run. In spite of all my fiddling (inc completely stripping the carbs), it ran really well. Only issue is that the clutch seizes if the bike isn't used for a week or so. Have to free it by rocking the bike in gear. Is this just due to lack of use or should I be investigating further? I don't have the issue on my Z650's when they have been laid up for a while

There clearly is a North/South divide , this is what's over the fence in my back garden .
Obviously not as exotic , but far tastier with mint sauce

Steve,
How long did you soak the clutch plates in oil on the rebuild?
What oil are you using?
Regards
Steve

I haven't had the clutch apart, it's as I got the bike in March. I have changed the oil and using Motorex Motorcycle Oil 4T 10/40 from Saisei.

The clutch seems to be working fine once I've "broken" the seal. Feels like the plates are sticking to me.

Thanks for the kind words on the bike…..1st time I've heard it called a stonker…….

Steve,
Separate the clutch plates, soak in oil overnight and then reassemble and this should stop the grabbing.

Steve
