Took a trip to the nec bike show today, mainly to drool over what I cant afford, but also hand my lid in to the arai service team for a health check. Kind lady took my details and told me to collect it later. So just before leaving I returned to the arai desk, handed in my token in and the guy handed me my lid in its bag. He removed it from the bag for me to inspect....studying a record sheet he began to tell me what work had been done and what new parts had been fitted....complete new d ring strap ...chin vent filter , visor mechanism parts, new clip on the visor, thorough deodorise and clean to the lininig and cheek pads etc, minor scratches removed from visor....and a good polish up to the exterior.
The result is amazing.,,, it really is like new.
Is that ok sir? he asked.....yes... I said...how much do I owe you?
"Nothing...this service is totally free of charge" he replied.
He then went on to say that the service provided is one of the benfits of buying an arai lid and is available to all arai owners.....he then explained that arai uk are collecting for a cancer charity all week and only ask a small donation and all proceeds will go into the fight against the disease.
I was all to glad to donate and he put it in the box, several of which are positioned on the stand.
So, if you own an arai...and are heading to the show, take it with you, hand it over and get it checked over and repaired and smelling, looking like new, all for free! ?.....
.....and then do your bit for cancer....

A while ago, I heard about this service and took my Arai to my local Arai dealer as recommended on the website. They took one look at the chinstrap and told me that it had frayed because of owner misuse but offered to change it at my expense - £120 but my helmet would be away for a fortnight ( I was riding every day back then).
I told them to stick it where the sun don't shine and bought a HJC Carbon Rafa 10 instead. That came with clear and tinted visors and with the pinlock visor insert as standard, it cost a little less that the cheaper Arai and, having being loyal to Arai for decades, I found it was much lighter on the noggin, it was much quieter, didn't mist up and is easier to maintain.
I'll not be 'investing' in an Arai again.

Fred, perhaps I could have been clearer....the service that I experienced was provided by arai uk ltd, not a dealer. I also believe it is only available at events where their staff are present such as this show and perhaps race meetings where they are providing product support. But my main point was the fact that alongside this free PR exercise , they , as a company are collecting donations for a cancer charity. Any organisation or individuals that do things to help others that are less fortunate deserve a mention, but thats just my opion. Sorry Iif my post sounded like an advert for arai, it wasnt meant to be, ....
and as it goes, ive got a hjc lid too.....and its good...and it is quiet !.....and it did come with a free visor.....but I didnt see them collecting donations for a charity.
