I think there is a lot of it in general.
I took my new toy to the local multi franchise dealership (including Kawasaki) on Saturday and no one spoke to me.
There were a few lookers but very obviously at arms length.
I think there are more born again types now than there ever has been.

Shame!

good on him

You could always buy a Harley

I've got 3, and 2 zeds and a Suzuki GS1000, I just suggested that as the new Harley dealer was organising a BIKE night it would be good to see some zeds, I gave a way to identify me, neither me nor anyone I know would have been "snobby" but there have been, hypocritically, some right snobby comments about why you wouldn't go to a bike night organised by a Harley dealer.

There's fuck all else going on in Berkshire, no Kawasaki or any other dealer doing a bike night and certainly no z1owners meet.

So shoot me for trying, shan't bother again.

Agree with Mark, it about the only event on around these parts and there a pub across the road.

Have you thought that you turn up in your old jacket riding like the bike is part of you because you've been riding since before god was a boy that you look slightly intimidating to newcomers? They may admire your bike, but not want to look stupid by asking inappropriate questions.

I took up skiing at 46, so I'm a "born again" skier and trust me getting among lifelong skiiers is un-nerving.
Cheers,

Mark.

Agreed, he seems OK, into bikes in general.

Let me know if you are going to make it and I'll make sure we get to have a chat.
Cheers,

Mark.

That hadn't occurred to me.

Were I being facetious I could rectify that situation by buying a newer jacket and ……

Actually I can't change the fact that I have been riding for 35 years and if my look intimidates others then that is their problem not mine.
As an aside I met a roadblock on the way home Sunday whereby the NCC were halting traffic whilst a huge ride out made their way on local roads. The marshall spoke to me to explain but as I was going the other way let me through.
Perhaps I do look rufty tufty ?

It's not a criticism, as I'm sure you know, just an observation that maybe they were being over-awed rather than stand-offish or snobby.
Cheers,

Mark.
