ZRX Fork Seal/ Stone Protector - How Does It Come Off ???

Calling any ZRX owner or Kawasaki mechanic out there -

I want to repaint my ZRX fork lowers.

Came to peel back the dust seal/ stone chip protector and it looks pretty solid.

I can see one engagement tag between the hard plastic outer stone chip protector and the inner rubber which is touching the fork stanchion.

Don't fancy prying it off and snapping the plastic chip protector, the outer is too hard & brittle to peel back like a rubber seal.

So how do you get them off fellas?

Any tips or avoids would be really appreciated.

Thanks from Mark

use a hair drier to heat them up then push the guard towards the fork tube & they should come off

Thanks Paul,

I got there in the end -

. . . sprayed wd-40 into the stone guard/ fork lower joint and moved it back and forward on the locating point until it moved freely side to side (a tiny amount).

Then I pushed up and in to centre on the protruding section of the guard - and it gave up its grip on the fork lower.

So a happy ending eventually. Now I have access for the re-painting and hopefully the guards are intact enough to re-install.
