Winter service on the Bimota SB6R. As is the way with most Bimotas they are designed for looks not functionality. You can't access anything with the bodywork on. This model features a monocoque seat unit entirely in carbon fibre. No subframe. Luckily it's not due either valve clearances or replacement front sprocket or it would be an engine out job!

I was staring at it wondering if was possible to take the frame from the headstock back to the centre of the rear wheel in one piece and have the rear wheel on a swingarm which faces forward and pivotted at that point. Rear strut would be in the same place just attached to the moving end of the arm. Yes youre right, its worthy of a bit of staring at.

But then the rear wheel wouldn't move as it would be at the fixed end of the swingarm. Unless you extended the frame so far back that the wheel was in front of the pivot point.

But, the law of unintended consequences would/culd strike, like what would happen to the natural anti-squat action of acceleration acting on the spindle below the pivot point of a normal swingarm.

I've got an SB6. The engine tilts forward for access 👍
