Picked this YZR750SP up for next to nothing, don't think the bloke knew what it really was, only 500 made World wide.

That's 8 bike bought this year and I now have a big mortgage again but don't care

But never understood how you distinguish an SP From a standard one.

I had a regular 'R' in the same colours. Best front end on anything I've ridden since including my 06 R1.
I needed to do some work on the paint and the white was a bitch to match (it's a 3 stage pearl with a bit of blue in it).

I also have an SP. Owned it for years and was bought for peanuts. Used it as my daily ride for a couple of years and it's done me proud for track days both here and in Spain. Once you get used to riding round town only in first gear and then revving the guts out of it to get it to go you'll love it. There is a forum specific to OW01 and the 750 SP but it dont get as much traffic as here.

Mine had a non standard paint job and typically of the period someone polished the frame which had dented the value as everyone wants stock. Someone on that forum said why dont you turn it in to a Cadbury boost replica so a cheap race fairing and a £400 paint job and a graphics set later we have this.



Original fairing, seat and tank is in the shed together with original exhaust etc.

I take it you must be single having bought 8 bikes in a year and having a big mortgage, as there is no women on earth that would allow that. Or is it just mine that is unreasonable about bikes.

Nope, been married to "Mrs Is Vic There" for 16 years now, she helps my do the bikes up and makes me drink beer in the mancave, she's the one who will open a bottle of Stella at 11am on a Saturday or Sunday with the excuse that it's 3 O'clock somewhere in the World! She's rebuilt the calipers on the RGV and helped fitting the engine in the Harris! The only down side is she will not go out on a bike, if she would we'd be off every other weekend!
