Triumph Help

Yes I should ask on the Triumph forum but it's only on this forum that help is offered and that includes asking about triples!
I've got round to trying to sort out the electrical fault on my 1999 speed triple. Got a wiring diagram and brand new battery.
It has a factory alarm fitted so does anyone know if I should have an alarm fob? All I have is the one key and it does not have any buttons on it as it is just a straight forward key.

if its a datatool alarm you should have a fob. easy enough to bypass

Triumph speed triples, had an option for a DATATOOL alarm. So your bike may have one fitted, if it does I think you should have a fob. Sorry not much help.

Update.
I put a battery on the speed triple this lunch time and turned on the ignition. It all seems to work apart from the front lights ( not sure if these only come on when the engine is running ). I hit the start button and the relay under the seat clicks away but no noise from the starter. I will now check ( not actually me but someone who knows what he's doing ) for voltage at the starter.
This might be promising

Sounds like classic clutch or side-stand safety switch issues.
Make sure it's in neutral with the side stand up and try again.
Also, check the red kill switch. Another common prob
See if engine turn ok by putting into gear if so try shorting across big terminals on starter with screw driver if above doesnt work,if turns over suspect solnoid
Hope it doent make a clacking sound when starter does spin Nigel,another common prob is the sprag clutch..Cheers Paul J

Side stand switch was bypassed before I bought the bike as it had caused a prior problem.
This afternoon I went to the bike, pulled the clutch lever in and the engine turned over
modern bikes eh!
Tomorrow I will have a plug out and check for a spark.
Short lunch breaks I'm afraid.
