Anyone familiar with an RC30?

#1 PostAuthor: DogsbolloxofZ1B » Sun Dec 21, 2014 8:01 pm

I'm working on an '89 RC30 at the moment and been asked to upgrade to full power version. I know I need the correct Cdi unit, large air box & euro exhaust can but once this lots fitted is it plug-n-play or got to be tuned?

Cheers, Mike

Scott,
I'll check. So far the various websites say just Cdi, Exhaust & larger air box.

to dogsbolloxofz1b . i was talking to a few teams at practical sportbike / cadwell 80th do . they were saying approx £90.000 full spec . airbox etc only works with over hrc kit parts . remember the carbs alone on ian hislops rc30 tt bike were £40 .000 . rc45 spec joey dunlop etc were £145.000 plus . H**** rc30 only get to full power using all hrc kit parts , dont forget they are gear driven cams and need a lot of work . check tony scott he did the H**** britain rc30 . over a 100 hours head work . sure performance bike mag did a featuere on him , hope this is of some use , cheers marlin

Are you just wanting to derestrict a home market Japanese spec RC30 to euro spec road version full power?

If so this will help http://rc30.yolasite.com/cdi.php
Inheritance? What inheritance? He spent it all on booze, women and Zed parts!

Sorry, wasn't ignoring you :D I've been off piste for a while as the more of this RC30 I dismantle the more I find wrong/incorrect.
I've found out I can de-restrict this Jap import by changing the cDI, fitting the large snorkel air-box and changing the rear can to euro spec. I've managed to get two items just trying to locate a Euro silencer at a sensible price.

Exquisite engine to work on though, changing shims is a doddle. :D
