1937 J.A.P Engine

Just got this J.A.P engine off my mate today, He"s had it in his shed for 20 odd+ years, far as I can work out, its a 600cc side valve motorcycle engine from 1937.in pretty good order, I am going to strip it clean it polish it paint it etc, then mount it on a plint and put it on my mantle piece, :lol:

maybe not might be a bit heavy.. :lol:

will see if I can find the timing cover for it..
if anybody knows anything about these please enlighten me..would like to try find a manual, anyhow hav a look.......

Try Cameron engineering - they've been racing with J.A.P. engine's since 1958,
and specialise in J.A.P. engine overhauls...they might be able to help with

Thanks jay,
I have since been in touch with these people about my jap engine,
and it is most prob 1937, but not from a motorcycle :cry:

but from a Lister Auto Truck....rail truck.and here is a pic of one.......

Yeah as Paul says, it's still a nice bit of kit (assuming he means just the engine) to own,
and an interesting project if assigned to a one-off bike!
Or dismantle, vapour blast/bead blast, then highly polished, re-assemble
keep as an ornament / investment for the future when / if someone looking to restore a Lister
thingga-mi-jig?

I do like the Engine and wont be selling it any time soon,

I went to Netley march steam rally this w-end, and low and behold, I saw a Lister Auto Truck, sorry, but I did not have my camera, :cry:

it was Brilliant.
This is a similar one, and which is most likely my engine came from....
