Passed it's MOT first time and out on the road. Rides lovely but revs feel slow to rise. Hard to explain but feels similar to retarded ignition timing. Plugs are soot black. I've got an eye on the pattern air filter (may try it without) but any ideas?

Some on here swear the wired george relay mod helps solve sooty plugs.

Check you have a full 12v at your coils.

Sounds like running rich, however if you have just got it going could it be burning off old rebuild oils? Just check the air filter is not obstructed, old rag or cloth, I had a tissue blocking up a filter on my Z1R, looking good tho, put some miles on it see if it improves :D

Thanks, yes, it could be the oil from the rings/hone. The air filter looks a bit suspect.
It could just be the passage of years: it doesn't feel as 'firm' as it did 20 years ago but neither does the missus :wink:
