I had one of those an off roader though, I was rather silly also and those lovely people at the magistrates court took my licence away and ordered me to do a retest if I wanted to get back on the road after my ban as well as fining me the equivalent of 3 months wages, so it was back to public transport for a couple of years, stayed off them about 15 years.
But my first ride at about 10 was a late 1950's Lambretta LD125 loads of fun.

my sis just scanned this photo of me with my first bike, id forgotten about it, i rode everywhere with throttle fully open, dont really know how i survived, so many crashes, siezed it and then the bearing went, part exed it in for a superdream.

i thought so to Piggy, seemed nippy to me, i raced a mate on an x7 for 15 miles, he took me after about 10 miles but then i passed him and the friendly police officer at the roadside in Warwick lol, so i won but on a technicality

My first bike was a Puch 3 gear hand change and pedal back brake in 1982, you could do 38 mph down hill, head down .
Then got a Suzuki GT125 Twin, thrashed the living daylight out of that, seized the big end at 75mph, repaired it and did it again, then brought a GT185 and put 125 badges on it !, thrashed that and guess what that seized too !!!, luckily I had just passed my test.
I then got a 1980 Z550 LTD, loved that bike.
I then brought a brand new Harley 1200 sportster, loved the sound but not the finish, replaced every bit of chrome under warranty and the gearbox blew up, Harley forked out for that too 6 months after the warranty ran out, sold that to buy a proper tractor !.
Then I got a Z750 shaft, nice bike but hated it in traffic, sold that to buy a WW2 Willys Jeep.
Ten years off and now got KZ1000 K1 LTD.

I had a succession of 'rat bikes' from the age of around thirteen, which I learnt to ride by riding 'off road' (on pavements through the estate.......) I 'graduated to my first 'road' bike - A TL125 with a single seat and a 'not for road use' plate on the frame, which overheated pretty much as soon as you started it. There was no ignition lock, no lights, knobblies and a chrome & rubber 'Mr. Magoo' hooter to get it through the MOT. Came off that bike more times than I can remember and probably pushed it more miles than I rode it but still have fond memories of it and will never forget it!

Got pics of quite a few from way back except one a 500 triple it was p reg,stan stephens tuned,kn's,expansions,rear sets , cma's , box section arm etc etc,looked the dogs b****s lol,i paid 700 quid for it in 1985 i think but didnt get on with it so swapped it for a cb900 which I loved!
