zed replacements

#1 PostAuthor: Surfdeneige » Mon Sep 21, 2015 10:02 pm

I was forced to sell my last z1000 as every time I wanted to use it there would be a carb issue. I then bought the 996 and recently bought the 900 that has a similar running on 2/3 carbon issue but they do look fine.

Not great for long journeys although drove to Spa on it last year. I suspect the answer is a low screen and 70mph + to take the weight off your arms and shoulders. I find though that it doesn't like puttering along. likes to be pushed.

One of my mates had a vmax and regret not having a shot when I had the chance. Huge power I understand.

996 looks very clean. what is the mileage?

The vmax isn't as fast as I thought it would be its only done 7500 miles from new and the 996 14300 miles love the Ducati v twin but will need the belts done soon was going to attempt myself 😀

I use Keith garage. The mechanic is ex ducati dealer. Belts change cost me under £200 and considering the cost
of genuine belts that is pretty cheap and takes away the risk. I know its a journey for you bit book it in for a Saturday and take a trip up some great roads. My 996 has done similar mileage but don't wont to get concerned about hitting 20k. In fact I'd quite like to put serious mileage on it.

That's handy to know will keep it in mind I know an old guy who had a st2 it had done over 50k before he wrote it off he is 74 😀 I have a friend who stays in Nairn not sure of distance from Banchory need to check that but could combine seeing him and getting bike done 😁
