Why would the oil be the number one suspect? Should I change brands?
Its the factory recommended stuff...

Well - the correct oil is in place. New cable and new clutch springs. Has made no difference.
Even with the adjuster all the way out the clutch barely engages and so slips at anything past 3000rpm. Zero free play at lever.
So it can only be a worn clutch.
One last question - are aftermarket clutches worth a look?
