I am pretty sure the diagramms are ok, because when i push the sliders up and block the air way they stay up intill the pressure is released, but I will check ompression, when the tester arrives- thanks

I stripped the carbs back completely, and for some reason on one of the carbs, the plate that is on top of the needle, there was 2 of them instead of one!! its on all cylinders, on and off, they are get hot. Its backfires through the exhaust, and its better at low revs, its when you rev it that its really bad?
