I used Z900A4 parts to convert my Z1A. There's a little bit of lathe work required as the centre spacers are slightly different and you'll need to turn the ends off the old bushes to space the swing arm correctly into the frame. I covered it in the rebuild series in CMM, it's in there somewhere if y...

My Suzuki Katana had a 1260 Wiseco kit with huge piston crowns and it pinked like buggery. I ended up using Millers Octane Booster which helped. I also filed the pulser coil backplate mounting holes out to slots so I could vary the timing, then spent a weekend doing lots of test mileage; kept stoppi...

The right hand piston has a ceramic insert to prevent heat transfer from the brake pad to the brake fluid in the caliper. It was a development on later models to prevent brake fade.
In real life it makes not a jot of difference.

Get 'em powder coated. It's smart, and a whole lot more durable than any paint. Triple S can do it in satin black to match the original finish.

You won't find an electronic tacho which will just bolt in, you'll have to be a bit creative with mounting brackets and nothing will match the looks of the original. All the aftermarket custom shops can order in mini tachos from Zodiac, Custom Chrome etc - there's a couple in the Hi Level catalogue,...

Before committing to new pistons give Westwood Liners a call on 01299 878727. They can supply new cylinder liners which a good machine shop can fit to your barrels and bore to suit your existing pistons. You'll still need new rings but it might save a few quid.

I had a look at this a few weeks back and decided it wasn't worth the bother. All it does is bypass most of the harness with a direct 12v feed via a relay to the coils. If you have a lot of voltage losses in your wiring and switchgear it will work around it, but it might be better in the long term t...

Hi Neal, If you blank off your tacho drive you can replace your tacho head with an aftermarket electronic item. These work by counting low tension pulses in the ignition system, so you'll need to take a feed from one of the ignition coils to make it work. This should be clear in the wiring diagram w...

Re: Brake Caliper parts: what do these do??

They're anti-rattle sleeves. Take 'em off and the brakes will squeal. Rod.
