i did it on my z1000j,just with the supplied instructions,also posted online,only problem i had was the electronic rev counter,i emailed dynatek usa,and they replied with the answer within hours,so,if i can.........

I had exactly the same problem with my j2,after a specialists rebuild,it rattled like mad,reset the cams,the rattles still there,but not as loud,it has a new tensioner as well,dunno what to do next.
