If you are applying sealing products to your tank, and if the fuel cap has breather holes to allow air to enter. Make sure you don’t gunge them up with the sealing compound.
I learned this the hard way.

Grommets

You know these grommet thingies, the ones that go on the frame to hold the side panels on. Does anybody know where I can get them. I have found some on the Internet, but the ones I am looking for are made of rubber. The ones I found on the Internet seem to be made of 18carrat gold judging by the pri...

Z1300 Again and again.

Isn't working on old Z's fun. The bike is still overheating, so I am going to replace the thermostat, and check the waterpump impeller is in place, while I'm in there I thought I would replace the mechanical seal on the impeller shaft. The problem I have so far been unable to source either a mechani...

Z1300 again.

I’ve finally got the Z1300 running, had a buzz round the town on it and it seems to be going reasonably well. There are one or two teething problems, but I’m sure I’ll get them sorted out. The first problem is, it seems to run a bit hot, and the electric fan cuts in if I am sitting stationary ...

Thanks for the advice guys. I discovered the black and yellow wire from the igniter has melted thru the insulation, it looks like it's been like that for some time. I have seperated the melted wire and soldered a new one in. So I will see if that works. The price of a replacemant is a bit eyewaterin...

Z 1300 igniter.

I think my problem with the z1300 is a faulty igniter.
I have searched e-bay etc, but I cant locate a replacement anywhere.
Any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated.
Its a 1979 z1300.
The igniter has the words IC IGNITER Kawasaki. cast into the front of it.

The saga continues, not much further forward today. If I put a screwdriver across the starter solenoid terminals the engine turns over. I have power to the, on off, switch on the handlebars, but no power to the starter switch. I have checked all the connections and they seem to be ok. I’ve got a s...

Going to have a little drink now, medicinal purposes you understand. Yes, I know alcohol won’t solve your problems. But I can have fun while I try. So any postings made by me between now and bed time are guaranteed to make no sense whatsoever. On account of me being a bit rat arsed. No change ther...

It should have a clutch switch, but it's missing. The bike was running fine before I stripped it down for rebuilding.
Been at it all day, if I hadn't spent so much on the bleeding thing I would do a Basil Fawlty on it.
Am I downhearted?
Well just a little.

z 1300

Almost finished rebuilding my z1300. Connected the battery, ignition lights come on, pressed the starter switch. Nothing.
Everything looks to be connected, I'm rubbish with electrics, where do I start?
