Hi Zorded and all
Progress halted due to man flu and needing to take the bike to Ralph Ferrand to sort an annoying electrical problem before I whip the carbs off again to answer your questions.
Normal service will resume when the snot leaves my head....and Ralph gives me a slot.

Thanks. Gary

Sorry for late reply. Just haven’t had time to fetter with the Carbs over the weekend except warm her up and pull the choke slightly….which unfortunately did not have the effect Zorded was looking for. I am thinking about refitting the dynojet needles but reading up again on CV carbs it shows th...

Hi both and thanks for the tips. Followed Richards advice to check the choke plungers for movement and sure enough there was. The movement was caused by the starter plunger levers being slack on the choke shaft itself, in turn allowing the plunger to move in and out a little, but only on carb no 1 &...

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. Yes I have checked the simple things like air leaks and cable routing, unfortunately all that nice easy stuff is fine. Can I really just block the holes again!!! Gona check Richards’s idea about the choke plungers. Rich, if I do find this to be the problem, how ...

Carburettor Help /advice wanted.

Carburettor Help /advice wanted. I have a 1983 Kawasaki Z1000R2 with stock Mikuni carbs on it. Prior it had pod filters plus a K&N jet kit. However it never really ran right, running lean & hot with a huge flat spot at 3K revs. I have since stripped the carbs, had them ultrasonically cleaned...

Rentec

Thanks TLC. No wasn’t dissing and will have a look at the Rentec. I wasn’t intending to carry side panniers, just a large single bag now and again so it might be a bit overkill for what i want. However if it’s the only thing going that won’t bugger my sub frame then that’s the way I must g...

How to avoid 3 keys for one bike

Thanks Mr Bear. Yes my old petrol cap would open with anything vaguely resembling a key, even if it was made of butter. My brand spanking new old one (original from Kawasaki) did not come with a key but neither would it work with any other key! The link was good and I have kept it in my favourites, ...

Do i really need 3 keys new ignition switch & petrol cap

Hi all. I have had to replace the ignition on my Z. I also want to fit a new petrol cap as well. Taking into account the helmet lock, this will leave me with 3 different keys for the bike. Has anyone found a way to change the barrels in the petrol cap and helmet locks so that I only have to use one ...

Thank you for your help

Hi Steve. Yes please by all means have a conversation with M&P. I feel it would be by far the easier solution. Thank you. Martinz & JB. Thanks for this info; I will look into this after hopefully hearing from Steve. OldZed. I had found that Valeo own Cibie but still struggled to find the opt...

Bikini Fairing replacment Cibie twin headlights wanted

Hi All. I have a twin headlight bikini fairing on my Z with 2 Cibie 55/60w light units. Like this. http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo/517931 Unfortunately the mounts that hold the bulb retainer wire (clip) in place have broken and I need to replace the whole Cibie units. Both M&P and Skidmarxs u...

Thanks lads.
Gona give Reality motorworks a shout first as their local and use Philpots for the chroming as the backup.
Cheers.
