Forgot to mention - I also sprayed the head and barrels - and baked them
inside a barrel BBQ. Engine not rebuilt yet, but the paint being baked on
should be as effective a treatment as z1bman's I think?

Yes! most likely a condenser. Fit a Dyna 'S' and you'll never have to touch it again.
