Dyna S electonic ignition

Still trying to lay to rest the last of the gremlins in my'78 Z1 and considering a conversion to the Dyna S electronic ignition kit including 3 ohm coils. Can anyone tell me if this system still requires a fully servicable auto-advance unit to function or does this component become redundant? Many t...

Many thanks Z1bman. You have no idea how much that little bit of info means!
I bought the bike as a partly completed restoration a couple of years ago and have been chasing a misfire since (see my previos posts for details) Think I may have just had a eureka moment! Fingers crossed. :D

Fuel tap configuration

Can anyone please remind me of the hose routing for the vacuum hose on the fuel tap of my Z1. Where does this attach to the carbs?
My bike is a recently overhauled, with 29mm Mikuni smoothbores and I am struggling to recall this information.

Sorry zman. Plugs are all equally sooty. The bike has never been run for more than a mile at a time.

Plugs are the same (NGK B8ES)

Voltage at coil is 10.6V with ignition on and 11.4V with engine running. ( Battery voltage 12.5V at rest). Low IR in wiring maybe?

Thanks

Rough Running

Hiya all. I'm hoping someone can help me please as I've run out of ideas. My bike is a '78 Z1 which has just undergone a complete engine rebuild including rebore to 1015cc with Wiseco pistons and head overhaul including new valves, guides, springs etc. The coils, condensers, points and plug caps are...

Thanks Mike.
Pipes are chrome. Not sure about the crank as I have concentrated on the top end so far and have yet to split the bottom, but it is on my radar.

Thanks for the link. Would 29mm Smooth Bore make much difference?

Z900 re-jetting required?

I am rebuilding a 900 engine and had planned opening up the capacity a little. However because the machine shop messed up with th rebore and scored one of the liners, I have now been forced all the way to Wiseco 1045cc. I will also be also running a Vance and Hines 4 into 1. The carbs are standard '...
