Newtronic or Boyer/Brandsen?

Fitted Newtronic about 10 yrs ago and was great. However increased exhaust heat/ proximity of exhaust when I put on the 4:4 meant I melted the lead from the points cover to the black box. So I've put the points back on temporarily but am in the market for another electronic system. Any suggestions a...

I've got 2 dismantled z1000 A1/2 callipers and 2 solid discs, discs are fine - were on my 900A4 but took them off cos there MUST be better way to brake in the wet. Calipers will need extensive refurb ( and you could put s/s pistons in them at the same time)

Rebuild almost finished but no bodywork back from Hutchy yet.
If you want a tidy 4 piper in a "naked" state it could be arranged, as something different to a complete bike

so is the other end bolted to the engine at the kickstart or to the frame at the tank strap?
( I've just looked at the parts book and I see you're right - I've had 2 fitted (somehow) for the last million years)

re the "got no clearance at all" problem- I bought 1 of the very smallest shims , so if I ever get no clearance , stick the smallest shim in , check its clearance (cos it'll always give clearance) then use the table to find the right shim

Ok. I've been fannying about with it while we've been online. The thin O ring carrier can go in either side , but the fat one only just gets its O ring into the swingarm recess if put on the non-chain side. So it probably isn't meant to be there. I'll put the 2 additional spacer washers both on the ...

On the chain side of the swingarm the start of the outer bearing race is 6mm down , and on the other side it is 9mm down , so not enough of a discrepancy to match the O ring carrier's differences.
Can't remember ever getting instructions with the swingarm back in the 80s

Dresda box section

As part of a recent rebuild , I replaced the bearings and the O rings that live outboard of the bearings in their own carrier. 1 O ring carrier is fat and 1 is thin but I can't remember which one goes on which side. Doh!!! When I took it to bits I didn't realise initially that they were different. A...
