Re: Petcock "PRI" Setting

AlanB wrote:Thanks guys - How long would you normally need to keep petcock on PRI to fill carbs before moving to ON ?

Assuming the vac tap is working as it should you can switch to ON as soon as the engine is running.

Prime is just a bypass (like a normal manual tap) for the vac operated tap.
You need it on prime for initial cold starting to fill the carb float bowls.
Once running the tap can be moved to ON and the engine vac should keep it open and long as the tap diaphragm is ok.

Yes, 16 teeth instead of 15 and also a fatter alt taper.

Can fit a digital speedo to almost anything. Basic needs are usually a switched power source and speed sensor for the front wheel.. Some aftermarket digi speedos have internal power ( watch battery) which lasts around a year. Speed sensor is usually a magnet fixed to a disc bolt and a hall sensor on...

Don't use heat. it wont help.
Rubber mallet applied fore and aft of the head on the plain casting bulges for the cam sprockets and rock the head whilst pulling up.
Threads of the studs usually get grabbed by the gunked up head nut washers, especially the distorted copper ones if not already removed.

No, Put them anywhere you can.

Don't think those std tyres will last long.
They will be toast before you get to the bingo.
Might be a good idea to fit some wide go cart wheels.

Z650/Z750 and All 1000J/GPZ1100 type engines have low breathers.
GPZ750 turbo one also has bigger breather hole.

Rev counter is triggered by the coils so most likely a duff coil.

Do not use coils of a lower resistance than recommended otherwise they will run hot, overheat and fail.
Higher is ok though.

Or get (or make) one of these. Also great for holding clutch hubs. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-Motorcycle-Bike-Locking-Pulley-Flywheel-Clutch-Holder-Tool-MS036/311267010784?_trksid=p2141725.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150313114020%26meid%3Dadf8d8...
