Yes this rebuild is anything but straight forward, strange that only one piston is gummed up, will try the boiling water first, other than that the pistons and bores look okay but will take them to our local engine tecniks guy.

Piston rings

Hi guys, anyone know how to release the piston rings from their grooves, I have number 1 piston the the top two rings are stuck fast, cannot even get a feeler gauge in the groove, is there owt I could soak them in or any other method. Cheers.

If I remember correctly, Phil at z power told me the pistons on the rear brake repair kit don't fit, I had to buy a genuine kawasaki one, the front repair kits are okay, , mine is the a1.

Done it, what a struggle, I had to remove the last two washers, which were not copper, had to put a small drill indent in them and then tap with a punch until they came free, almost welded to the studs, then just levered and rocked back and forth till it let go, the studs were full of crud, almost f...

Been using a wedge driver, the head has moved, you can see light through the gasket space, it seen stuck in the middle front, all bolts and nuts removed Paul :D I think a little heat may be required, pry points used.

Cylinder head

I am trying to strip down the engine on my 1000a project, I am having trouble getting the head off, it seems to be fast around the front middle two studs, it does seem pretty gunked up, have soaked it in easing oil to see if that move it, any suggestions if that wont work, other than slinging it in ...

I was told by DaveMarsden when I was refurbishing my rear master cylinder what ever I did, do not lose that nut, I would struggle to get another, could be an investment opprtunity there :D
