Gordon, the modern tyre does not require these "rim-locks". The trouble is you have to do something about filling the hole and stop the rim tape and tube wanting to bulge through the rim hole. I've usually made up dummy bolts & nuts to to fill the hole, ensuring I have smoothed the ins...

Thanks Zed1015, I was unaware of the 2 bolt sprocket mount and indeed the Hyvo chain on the "J". I wasn't particularly after performance gain, but rather, more or less, general use of these camshafts for the Z1- Z1000 A1 & A2 engines.

Swap sprocket on camshaft

Does anyone know if you can fit a Z1R, Mkii or "J" (inlet or exhaust) camshaft to a Z1 to z1000A1 engine, simply by removing the 32 tooth sprocket and replacing it with a 30 tooth sprocket? Throws would be geometrically in the same position! RegardZ. PS I will be away for a few days over X...

Warning......
Careful using a rubber Bung..
I had a disaster using a bung to spread some internal coating on a tank.
The bung came out, thought it was as firmly in! The taper on the bung must have been too steep!
I wish I had spent more time making it secure.

Well it ain't perfect but it's acceptable. I replace the 3 coil (gear-lever) spring with a 4 coil and replace the small spring that keeps the selector arms together, this one had stretched a bit. This allowed the arms to be firmer on drum. It made the neutral selection much better, but still not per...

The clutch seems to be working well. the bike rides well and has no trouble running thru gears. It just when you pull up and want to select neutral it has trouble. Funnily enough, it ran alright on the stand. I've now drained the sump and have to pull off the pipes to remove sump and have a look at ...

Here is a photo of an old bottom case. My query is the slotted pin with 13mm locknut, in centre of pic. It is the pin that supports the gear lever spring. It appears it is not eccentric, as first thought. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v626/garn/IMG_1198_zps8ckjfrtb.jpg To help me with the proble...

Thanks for the info, I usually look for the heaviest. Nice to know there is a better way than just looking!
I got caught once in selecting thicker than usual head gaskets set. The thin tunnel seal wouldn't work! Had to spend the money. Now I always use sealant as well.

For the Z1, Z1A and Z1B the round tail-light bracket is different from the one for the short guard. Also, although I have seen the Z900 square tail-light bracket fitted to the long and the short guard utilising the same bracket, I believe they are slightly different. Note that the Z900 long guard wi...

Mike_P, the most important thing when going with a new REAR rim for the Z1000 is to note that they are one directional, meaning the spokes on the chain side are slightly different angle to the ones on the other side, this is due to the difference in flange sizes of the hub. You will note on your ori...

Thanks Kev1R and Garry.L..... I'm thinking the Emgo lens may be for another Kawasaki model, perhaps a Z650. Agree reflectors are unnecessary. I cannot understand Kawaski making two rear-tail lens with such a slight difference in the curvature if the top section of the lens. Anyway, I'll get the corr...
