You can do them by hand. These were actually painted Black...stripper, scourers and hand polishing. Shouldn't be too hard, just don't burn the chrome any more than ya have to. A new original pipe should have the cover band over this area anyway?

If you end up buying SS bolts that you're going to file the stampings off the heads of...make sure they are 316 grade, lesser grade WILL rust where you file.

Not if your planning to fit the silencer as well to an original bike....won't fit properly.
