Im planning on a normally aspirated bigbore motor - maybe with the Wiseco 810cc kit with Mikuni smoothbores. Definately not planning on going down the turbo route.

z650 / GPz750 Rebuild

OK - I thought that I should start a project page for the rebuild of my z650 / GPz750. So here are a few early stage project photos to start off with. Firstly, here is the bike before being stripped down: http://z1ownersclub.co.uk/useralbums/albums/userpics/normal_v70z650_z650before.jpg Here is the ...

Engineering in South Wales

Can anyone recommend a good place to get some small engineering work done as part of my z650 rebuild, around the South Wales region (I live in Bridgend and work in Cardiff). Im fitting a GPz750 swingarm in a twin shock configuration. So I need: - The z650 swing arm pivot holes reemed out (by 1mm) - ...

I found the site great for some of the small parts. I've ordered a few small (very small) rubber bushes/grommets etc that have all seen better days on my bike. I sourced new tank mounting rubbers, side panel and tail unit rubber bushes/grommets and electrical plate baushes/grommets. These were all v...

Genuine Parts Fiche

I have found a site in Holland http://www.cmsnl.com/kawasaki-motorcycle_model11372/ which provides access to the original kawasaki parts fiches, from which you can look up part numbers and order original parts (if they are still available of course!). This is VERY(!) useful; but does anyone know of ...

Looks like you are doing some great work Jim and you have my full admiration for getting into the shed in the current weather. Will keep in touch.

Thanks Paul - that is a great source of advise and very timely as I'm hacking around the front end of my z650 at the moment. I'm actually fitting a GPz750 wheel into the standard z650 forks. I found out that a the z1000j and equivalent z750 (and possibly late z650s too) that use the 7 bolt disk have...

Hi Crofty Just thought that I would post a reply as I am just starting a z650 rebuild myself (+ GPz750 engine, wheels). I have a couple of pictures on the 'New Here' thread (see link below) and will be starting a project page in due course (as soon as the weather improves enough to get back in the g...

Many thanks AL

Fork centres are the same as the z650, which means that I should be able to use z1000j brake calipers and hangers to match up with the GPz wheel in the z650 forks - next stop ebay.

Thanks AL

That's the same as the GPz750 disks (within 1mm). So I'm guessing that I can use the z1000 calipers or at least the hangers.

If you have a spare minute you could you let me know the fork centres - just as a final check?

Many thanks again

z1000j Front Disk Spacing?

Hi Folks Can anyone tell me the spacing (back-to-back, centres or face-to-face) for z1000j front disks. I am in the process of fitting a GPz750 wheel into standard z650 forks. The z1000j (and similar models) appear to be an intermediate step (having the later style wheel hub with 7 bolt disk but old...
