if it noisy suspect starter clutch/ rollers, if its not rotor/clutch spinning on the crank which cant be good cos are they not keyed ?

at 12.7v on full load the system is supplying what it needs to run the lights ignition and keep the battery "topped" so don't fuss to much

realistically one of them will fail eventually purely on age, however having said that if it is working now and giving the correct output at around 13.5` 14 volts under full load at 4000 rpm there is no reason to swap it for the sake of it, just buy a replacement integrated unit and put in a box rea...
