Heres an excerpt from a useful site called FWR.co.uk, have a look through their FAQ. Can I mix tyres? Usually yes. On the road it's illegal to put a crossply on the back with a radial on the front, but not the other way round. The speed rating should also be enough for the bike's maximum speed, not ...

If you don't mind posting I can recommend an excellent painter, Jon in Scalpay (Harris, Isle of). http://www.pitstop-paint.co.uk He's wicked with an airbrush but can just as easily do a straight or repro job. He's a sometime poster on here in fact when he's not up to his neck in paint and lacquer an...

If it's only on start up try starting with the kickstart if you have one, failing that try a bump start, if this results in no noise on start then it's related to your starter motor.

Get a longish stick / screwdriver and use it as a sounding stick to try and source the location of the rattle. Place it on the engine at appropriate points and your ear to the other end, it's surprising how much info you can get this way. You'll be able to find if it bottom end / clutch / top end / ...

Arse, magazine mans got them listed but sold out. Dammit. I don`t suppose you want to sell on your copy Jimmock? Or persuade Iain he doesn`t really want one. :) (he says hopefully) Or even a loan of it for a read and return to you? I,d be quite happy to pay postage. I`m hoping now, given the popular...

If you're undoubtedly leaking from the gaskets then as mentioned before soak if they're fibre and refit. However, you need to recheck your float height, check for punctured floats and replace your needle valves and valve seats, these can look OK but be ridged badly enough to leak fuel through. While...

Most likely will be fine as most performance 'road oriented' pipes are not too far from the standards as regards operation and gasflow. However, if they are most definitely full performance with minimal baffling the general rule of thumb is to increase main and pilot jets by 10%, i.e. running 100 ma...

You just can't argue with Eric Estrada can you?
I modelled my chest wig on his as a matter of fact.

Tell you what, health and safety would have a fit if CHP used the same riding gear now that jon and ponch did.

New project, Early California Z1000

Picked up an early model Z1000 US Highway patrol today. It's hopefully complete but in bits in a box, being delivered shortly, it'll give me something to do while the weathers crap. You've gotta love ebay pic below http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u159/m11ks/CHiPsZ1000.jpg OK, so it's slightly sma...

General rule of thumb is when you fit a freer flowing exhaust, (changing from the heavily baffled stock item only mind), you would increase the mainjet by roughly 10%, if you also fit pod filters go another 10%. These are only rough rules and tuning carbs can really get convoluted, you can even get ...

Only bit of info to add is check and adjust mixture so that all cylinders are running on a good fuel air ratio, (use a Gunson colourtune, easy to use), then re-balance, as said, don't worry over specific numbers, just get them balanced together, 1 and 2, 3 and 4 then 1,2 and 3,4.

Noticeably blue means running hot and lean. A yellowish tinge is indicative of a 'near enough' mixture, not quite so cut and dried as if you ritually abuse your right hand, (throttle, that is, keep on track everyone please), then blue hot pipes can be 'normal' as it were. First of all, check and set...
