Re: Z1, ZA or Z1B Rear sprocket carrier

Does anyone have a good rear sprocket carrier going spare? In my house move I seem to have lost it😁😁 Also, is the Z900 one the same? I seem to recall it didnt need the spacer behind rear sprocket for an O Ring chain. Mike Part way through the z900-a4 production run, they changed the...

It should be - although I have yet to see them first hand. I would imagine it is the same petcock but in both black and bare metal finish

The boss of PMC was here a few weeks ago and we talked about the petcock situation. PMC is working with a manufacturer to get some FAR better replica petcocks made - they should be available this year. The ones being sold at the moment are absolute garbage. There are three main problems. 1) they lea...

Unless the base circle of the cam is different (which is shouldn't be), you shouldn't need to change shims. The reality is you might need to tweak the clearance a little as manufacturing tolerances can vary a little between cams.

I now run a 2-3psi fuel pump with a smaller 2.3 float needle valve orifice (recommended by Mikuni for fuel pump setups). I used to have a separate fuel regulator, but I removed this as I was getting erratic flow. Most times I don't get issues with fuel pissing out, but once in a while the needle sti...

The extra-disk clutch setups use slightly thinner friction plates, so you can add an extra friction and metal plate to the pack. I don't recommend these on stock or close to stock street bikes. They are really for drag bikes or very hot street bikes as the clutch can be a little harsh - difficult to...

Re: Coils ? Dyna's or Standard

Chaps advice please: having some issues (as always) with my A4 (sometimes I know my bike hates me) and might have to replace the coils. Was unsure whether to fit some new standard units (from Uncle Dave), or push the boat out and go for a set of Dyna's :?? :?? My bike rarely gets thrashed or does b...

The Kawasaki web site is better. I bought a CD a few years ago and was hugely disappointed. One of the failings on the CD I have is the lack of supersession information on parts - essentially making it useless. I don't know if he fixed this or not. When I complained to him he didn't seem to care.

Were they totally pulled apart? One of the critical parts is the thin gasket under the jet block. Without that the pilot circuit won't pickup fuel effectively. Make sure the air jet is clear. That's the little jet screwed in from the air filter side. It's sits deep down in the hole aligned with the ...

The cloud of smoke on startup is typically worn valve guides or the valve stem seals. When the bike is sitting, a small amount of oil will make its way past the valve into the bore. If the smoke dissipates quickly, I would leave it alone until you need to pull the head off for other work. You will a...

hi jeff its def the head gasket. You can see the oil round the head at the side & back. Its also burning oil.But she runs like a dream. While it's possibly the head gasket, it sounds much more like the tach seal from what you said. When riding, the oil is blown through the head and will appear al...

What makes you think the issue is the head gasket?

Most oil leaks come from the tach drive - the oil then works it's way across the head when the bike is left on the side stand.

One of the weaknesses of the Dyna-s is it's lack of tolerance to voltage extremes. In the majority of cases we've seen it's a poor regulator or a bad battery causing the issues. Going back 2-3 years, Dynatek did have a run of bad parts. But since then their reliability has been very good. The newer ...
