Always a ball ache getting carbs off,on makes it easier if all intake and airbox rubbers supple,take off the starter cover,and the brace across carb tops to get cables off easier,when putting back on only fit centre two airbox rubbers then roll back outer two on them selves and use smooth tyre iron ...

Its easy, i use a very small phillips with a hole drilled and a tommy bar through,or a phillips and small socket wrench,put a towel under neath to catch screws,fuel etc.if leaking though you may well have float level issue.Paul J

Steve, you say idiot light on dash is flashing? this is a feature and is used to indicate that the brake lamp has blown,it does this via the outage relay which is a small grey plastic init that plug into the loom attached to a bracket on one of the coil studs,bit strange though as you say brake lamp...

Jack ,they are very similar and both will fit a4 and thou,if you put a thou one on a 4 its a bit of a game to fit the snorkel suggesting it slightly less tall,the a4 air box should have two clips for the carb breathers..Paul J
