Haz, I have had this done a couple of times on heads and barrells, you need to find someone who does aluminium fabrication and welding. I use a guy here in Sydney and his work is beautiful and price quite reasonable as well.
Good luck with it

Crating an engine

I thought this may be of interest. Just finished an engine for a mate who lives about a thousand kms away. So heres how I crated it, may be a useful resource for others. By the way it got there and is now in his frame.

Thanks for the input guys, as far as it being welded I noticed nothing unusual when it was sandblasted prior to powdercoating so for now it remains a mystery.

z1b swingarm

Hi all, I am restoring a Z1B and have come accross an interesting problem. While attaching the chain guard I found the holes don't line up with the swingarm. The brackets on the swingarm are about an inch further apart than the holes on the guard. I thought it must be a dodgy repro guard so I checke...

Absolutely stunning job so far. I noticed the finished switchblocks, did you re paint the red and white bits yourself? If so how did you go about it?

Nice pipes Chris, any other info on them, they look great for a 4 into 1 (I personally favour 4 into 4 but not in this economy) they sound good, first I've ever seen!

Sorry Garn, I don't have a shot of where the headers connect, I can tell you though that the headers are 4 individual pipes that slip into the muffler and are tightened with 4 bolts.

Any clue?

4 into 1 identification

Hi all, I was recently given the pipes pictured for my resto. They have no markings apart from "made in Japan" stickers on each pipe. They sound good though, does anyone know what they are? First time posting pics, hope it worx http://picasaweb.google.com/mickeymeela/Z1ARebuildBeginSept08#...

Garn, it seems the same problem must have occurred at some point with my Z1A. The plugs have been drilled and tapped with a 4mm thread which has then been fitted with a grub screw. A very tidy and efficient solution.
