This may sound stupid , and I will own up to fitting the rotor 180 degrees out on my gs750 by not paying attention, but the problem is that the sender is not at 180 degrees. It's at 7 o'clock , not 6 if you get what I mean . Bike ran flat. Now its spot on.

pads

I find none sintered to be better than sintered,in that they tend not to squeal as much and there is less wear on the disc rotor. sintered pads used to eat the discs on gpz's, worked well but hi wear, the gpzs had higher iron content then s/s z1 disc, so may not be such a problem. some one said org...

Wheels & rebuilding

I had a go at building my own wheels with new spokes, first one was difficult, second one was 10x easier. Less than 0.4mm run out in any direction, ended up using a dial gauge, finally pinging the spokes to ring the same note which indicates tension match my local bike tyre fitter said it was some t...

to share my recent top end build "problems" Just finished rebuilding the top end of my gs750 a copy of the z1 engine ( same bore, valve size, and valve timing) . Some points . I had new rings in , but the bores were not honed, they were glazed. I made the unforgivable mistake of assuming t...

I have a f4, it is a stunning bike, but can't ride them in town , a complete horror, you must get out the road and be doing at least 60+ to take the weight off your wrists , once going faster the handling is superb and the noise from the 4 exhausts is pure music, you go up and down gears just to he...

To many people fail to RTFM, especially experts. If after a decent run and the bike is running tops then it's not likely to be rings. If you still find it smoke or oily and compression is down then probably still rings / bores Although check shims for clearance to ensure valves shut when hot It's ve...
