Mike,
Do the Z1000A1 handlebars have the hole in them to retain the right hand switch gear as I have a set that are exactly as Z1 but minus the locating hole.

Don,
The date code for the the Z1 master cylinder is shown as a single number internally i.e. 2 or 3 for 72/73 Z1.
The brake caliper bracket uses the same single number identification.

John's book I believe is still available and is a must, along with Zpower's parts book for the Z1 range,for anyone carrying out a serious restoration.

The shorter unit is correct for a Z1B- Frame No 55500 onwards according to John Brookes' excellent book.

Yes I replated mine on my Michigan to West Sussex 73 Z1 resto(in projects)
The resto is featured but the bit on the solenoid plating got Wiped.
I will add to this thread over the weekend.

Humbrol paint with fine brush,allow to dry off a little till tacky.
Wipe any excess with a lolly stick that has kitchen roll wrapped round it with lighter fuel on it.
Best way of repainting Black on points and alternator covers around DOHC too.
