Z1000 frame number question

I have a spare Z1000 frame which still has the American white sticker on it, so I assume it was imported at some time althougth I don't have a V5. The number is KZT00A-02989* which according to the Zpower guide means it is a Z1000 A2 frame. The only thing that puzzles me is that on the American whit...

I put a chrome headlight from a 600 bandit on mine. It fitted without much trouble & gives a decent light.

toast racks

Here is a picture of my Z1R which I had in the mid-eighties which had the chromed "toastracks" fitted to the sides of the cylinders. I liked them at the time, but not so sure now!

Hi GB I think what the Clymer manual is saying is that top part of the valve stem (from the collet groove to the top) must not be ground below 4.2mm. I have just taken out the first valve & that part of the valve stem measures approx 5mm. Therefore in theory I suppose I could have up to 0.8mm gr...

Thanks for your offers/advice. I think I will follow Pigford's suggestion & take the vavles out to check whether they can be skimmed. In the Clymer manual it says that the valve stub end can be skimmed up to 4.2mm, so hopefully I can get this done. I'll post the results! Cheers

Z1000 cylinder head

two of my shims are down to size 200 which I believe is the "end of the line" for future adjustment. Also the head has some major fin damage. So I just wondered if anybody has a Z1000 A1 or A2 cylinder head for sale.

Thanks Pigford, I bought these off ZPower via ebay, they are the ones they list for £65 or best offer including 4 plug caps. I got them for a £60 offer. Seemed like a good enough deal.

Emgo coils

I've just bought a pair of Emgo coils for my Z1000A2. Each coil has a Yellow wire & a Black wire. I assume that the yellow wires are the positive feeds from ignition and the black wires go to the points. Just wondered if anybody could confirm. Thanks

Regulator/Rectifier wires?

I just bought a combined replacement regulator from LM Spares for my 1977 Z1000 A1 project. It has five wires which are two yellow, a black, a red/white & a brown. No instructions but I assume black is earth, red/white goes to battery positive & brown to the main brown in the loom to feed al...

Tailpiece !

I have just fitted a Z1B tailpiece to my Z1000 A2 project. It fits onto the frame ok but the seat will not close properly. The seat base hits the middle of the tailpiece before the seat can shut. Does anybody know if the Z1 tailpieces are slightly different to the Z1000 A tailpieces ?
