Hi Zedhead, Chrisu. Thanks for the replies. The nub of the enquiry is that I've picked up an early rear wheel which has a rim stamped up with 2F (so June 1972 dated ?) and 303 which is the designation code I believe for a Z1. Question is did the H2 have a similar or same wheel (hub/brake plate/sproc...

Z1 rear wheel rim off-set measure needed

Hi all.

Can someone help with a measure of the rear wheel off-set for a z1, doesn't matter which side it's from, just need to know with either the sprocket carrier or brake drum out and a strait edge across the hub what the measure is to the rim (standard steel rim)

Thank you.

Cheers Neil

Hi Steve, Vince. I've pulled the tap apart and re-built packed with red rubber grease - it may work........From Steve's experience it would seem getting American Classix is re-stock on their sleeve would do use all a big favour. I'll try giving them a nudge when they get back from what must be an ep...

Hi all. Thank you for the feedback. The bug bear here is the inner plastic sleeve...........Did the ones you and Mike bought from American Classix work ? if so it may well be worth convincing them that another batch would be worthwhile...........Steve, do you think that the original sleeve shrinks w...

Is there a decent repair kit for a '72/3 Z1 Fuel tap ?

Hi all. A subject that has no doubt been covered more than once......... I've got a few jobs to do on my Z1, one of which (hopefully) is to replace the existing fuel tap with a black painted item, I have a good tap - at least the paint is but blowing air through the thing I know it's going to leak.....

Hi all. Some alternative Triples...........Two pics of my '71 Rob North race bike and one of my '71 MK2 BSA Rocket 3 on tour in Christchurch NZ last year, that was epic fun !!!! I'm pondering on the wisdom of riding the Rob North round the Island in this years VMCC rally held during the Manx GP week...

Hi John Intrigued, as I know there is conflicting information even within Kawasaki's official publications. This proves to be the case between the first edition parts book I have (dated 20/9/72) and what I believe to be a first issue owner's manual (dated August 1972) The parts book has already been...

Touring New Zealand February 2010

Don't know if I've put this in the right place but here's the gist. I've organised a container to ship a bunch of bikes down to NZ, the thrust for half of us is to attend the International BSA Rally which is being held in the South Island and travel around generally. (yep I've got some old Brit iron...

Ok, DID sounds like the one to have, I take it there is no problem fitting an 'O' ring chain ? Seen X ring chain talked about but must admit to not having a clue what it is, thats kind of a legacy of having British stuff I guess.
Thanks for your input so far, regards Neil.

chain & sprocket kits, what's best ?

Digging the trusty Z out for a spin down to the Ace I noticed that the rear chain has got a split link in it. It's probably a legacy of some lazy bugger not wanting to do the job properly, I want to replace the chain and reckon I may as well replace the sprockets at the same time. What do you guys r...
