Won't run off choke

Engine stripped,cleaned and rebuilt. Carbs cleaned and new brass work. All settings as per book for 1975 Z1B carbs which are fitted to '75 Z1A. Bike starts a treat and runs well on choke, though odd squeek and cough initially, however won't run off choke. Can control rpm up to 3,000 on choke but as ...

Thanks all for the thoughts. When spinning the back wheel the knocking only seemed to happen in neutral. Have run up and down the gears a few times and noise now gone away. Maybe something in the box just wasn't seated right, though hard to see what. Anyway, fingers crossed no further problems. Chee...
