I have just had the cylinder head of my Z1 skimmed by .010 inch which according to the Kawasaki Shop Manual is the Service Limit. It has been bored out and running Standard Kawasaki 70mm Pistons making it 1015cc. Do I have to raise the barrels by the same amount or can I put the head back on without...

Heavy Clutch

Hi Z1bman,
It do'es seem to be something to do with the spring plate as with it off the lever to pusher is fine with a finger over the pusher it moves freely.

Everything lines up on spring plate and tightened down evenly.

Heavy Clutch

Hi Crofty, That sounds like what could be happening, but I can't see where the plates have worn the fingers to cause the clutch be be heavy. And as I see it the pusher only lifts the spring plate and not the friction/Pressure plates, ? I do ride the bike quite hard but the A.P.E clutch has been in f...

Heavy Clutch

Hi Z1bman, When I stripped the clutch I had the A.P.E extra plate installed and found the friction plates were tight on the tangs, so I put the original plates, pusher, springs, clutch rod and release arm back. The friction plates went back easily compared to the A.P.E ones and I don't think the A.P....

Heavy Clutch

Hi Steve, Yes, the same. I have lubed the cable, greased the release mechanism, clutch rod, and pusher. Everything moves fine, but when I put the spring plate back on and tighten up the bolts, it becomes very hard to pull in the clutch. I have dismantled it down to removing the plates a few times an...

I love my bike just the way it is, once upon a time I might have gone lower but I just love the riding position as it is, just the front end does'nt seem right. Still have'nt got springs from Wemoto, but have spent a bit of time getting the Rickman for sale, as after my last off, I have re-injured m...

Thanks Bill, Unlike you, I have managed to keep my weight within limits and am not much heavier than I was way back when. As for alloys, not for my Z1 and the Ronals I have on my Rickman are'nt exactly light weight. I have decided to give the Forks a complete stip down and see whats going on i...
