Moto Martin's of the era had a similar riding position.
From memory both the Harris brothers are taller than me, so god knows why they made it with such an awful riding position, though early GSXR750s had similar high footpegs.

I'll be selling a Z1000J (might be Z1100R) filler cap at some point after I've converted mine to a modern filler cap, if you can wait you can have first dibs on it.

My Z1100R manual arrived from New Zealand today, and it's very nice, loads more info and pictures than the Clymer manual it has sensible wiring diagrams that show the individual circuuts rather than lumping them all together in one incomprehensible diagram.

Chris - I will order one from the NZ guy.

Julian - I will pay you a visit after I get my Z900 finished (should be this weekend).
Rob - see you soon (half term week?)

Once again thanks for your help.

What's this "finishing a bike" concept you speak of?

Thanks for that, he also does a Z1100R manual, that's another £70 spent on the bike (the postage from New Zealand for a 500 page manual isn't cheap)

Hi Bill, there is a rubber between the frame and the tank at the rear, my one came from Z-Power, you're welcome to come and look at my J any weekend you want.
I usually look at CMSNL when I want to see the micro fiche, but I think Rob might have a parts book.

Was the centre pin welded before it went for refurb - just wondering as I have a Unitrak crank and hope that it's welded.

Strip, clean, inspect, balance and weld with new big ends and mains came to £580.

Was it a Z1100R crank or one from something else?
(I thought the 1100R had the Unitrak engine and the crank came from the factory with the centre pin welded)

Engine will fit in a Katama frame, all big Suzukis have the same engine bolt positions - if your in any doubt give Chris at Grumpy 1260 a ring and he will confirm this.

Not sure whether to go Novice or Novice +, I haven't done a trackday in 13 years but I have done a lot of laps of Cadwell - albeit before the silly chicane before the esses at the bottom of the mountain existed, probably best to go Novice where I can be a mobile chicane. Have to work out how much it...

I stand a lot more chance of having my Z ready for Cadwell than Donnington and I also much prefer Cadwell to Donnington.
how are the groups done, by experience or engine size, if it's by experience I'd go in novice and book now as my H**** 400 would be fun round Cadwell if the Z isn't ready.
